We’ve finally been experiencing cold weather here in Jersey, and with shorter days on top of that, my body is slowly going into hibernation mode. 😩 Lots of snuggles, tea, and when I can, hot herbal baths. I’ll let you in on what I’ve been reaching for lately.
This is my first time trying out this brand but I had heard really amazing things about this line in the past. My sister and her husband swear by their natural deodorant, saying it is the only one that works long term for them. 🙌🏽
You may have heard of Nubian Heritage before, or maybe not, but they are a brand that after taking a deeper look at their ingredients and philosophy, I fell in love with their story.
To give you a background, Nubian Heritage is a company started by young women straight out of college who had only a dollar and a dream. They started as street vendors in Harlem and hoped to share the healing traditions of their heritage with the community. Ancient Nubia was the world’s first melting pot. They beautifully state that,
Ancient Nubia was once a center of cultural trade– a place where goods, ideas, and customs from across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean came together, influenced each other, and then spread across the ancient world. That’s the inspiration behind Nubian Heritage. We bring together traditional healing practices, cultural wisdom, and indigenous ingredients, remix them and create modern natural solutions for skin and hair. This is our mission: to make cultural exchange the model for transforming the global community.”
I’m a sucker for stories like this, you guys.
These are the types of businesses I love to support. Much like SheaMoisture, this brand keeps their hearts in their products and works tirelessly to keep tradition and natural healing alive. Natural, organic, and non-toxic ingredients, while preserving cultural tradition every day. I can say confidently now that, that yes, they are succeeding at this goal.
They reached out to me recently to see if I would consider sampling a few of their products. No catch, no obligation, they simply wanted to know my genuine thoughts. After noting the types of products that I have loved and reviewed in the past, they were hopeful that I would enjoy these as well. After reading up on them, I was more than interested in trying.
So what did I try?
🌿Nubian Heritage Abyssinian Oil and Chia Seed Bath Bomb
🌿Shea Butter and Aloe Body Wash (Fragrance Free & Sensitive Skin)
🌿Shea Butter and Aloe Body Lotion (Fragrance Free & Sensitive Skin)
Abyssinian Oil and Chia Seed Bath Bomb
I really can’t say enough good things about these bath bombs, you guys 😍🤤 These babies made my entire package smell delicious before I even opened up the box… It has such a calming, gentle floral aroma, very natural. The package describes it as having a rich, woody, floral fragrance, but that doesn’t even do it justice. I’ve never smelled this scent before but it is deliciously calming. 🙏🏽🌿✨
It is made with amaranth extract and ginseng.
🌿Amaranth has high antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, aiding in the elimination of free radicals, treating infections and reducing inflammation in the skin and body. It is packed with minerals like, iron, copper, magnesium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus, all of which are necessary to keep a healthy balance of electrolytes in your body.
🌿Ginseng is a powerful anti-aging ingredient as well, high in phytonutrients, and helps to tone and brighten skin.
🌿The baking soda aids in detoxing the body further and balancing your natural pH.
These dissolve quickly in the bath, like most bath bombs, fizzing and bubbling until they disappear completely. However, what I love about these is that they leave behind traces of petals, herbs, and other natural ingredients, which feel simply luxurious. I added a tablespoon of coconut oil as well and my skin was left feeling silky smooth by the end. I even splashed my face with the water because I wanted every inch of me to be treated in this water.
Will I be buying this again?
Absolutely. I want to give this as a gift to so many women in my life because it is that good. I never got into the whole “bath bomb” hype. I throw a couple of handfuls of essential oils, epsom salt, magnesium, and baking soda into my tub often and just didn’t see the point. However, I will be repurchasing these again because the scent and effect it had on my skin is unparalleled to anything I’ve done at home by myself. It is the easiest way to relax and detox and just smells incredible. I can’t wait to use another. 🛀 🙌🏽💕.
Nubian Heritage Sensitive Skin Body Lotion
This was a pretty little surprise for me that I used directly after my bath. I’ll start by saying that I am generally a body butter person and prefer those or oils over lotion. Having said that, this lotion is very rich and creamy and soaks into my skin beautifully, leaving behind the slightest bit of moisture. It doesn’t leave a greasy residue but truly keeps my skin quenched.
Especially now that the winter months are approaching, this is a great one to have on hand because it nourishes my skin and provides the lasting hydration that I’m looking for.
It truly offers no real scent, which is perfect for those sensitive to fragrances and something that I appreciated. I’ve tried other “unscented” products in the past and have been slightly disappointed because “unscented” sometimes can mean “unpleasant,” but this actually has zero scent, while still providing the soothing benefits of aloe and shea butter. This is something I’d repurchase because it comes with a lot of product and gives me the same benefits of a butter, with a slightly lighter texture, and in the convenience of a squeeze-tube.
What I like:
The formula is not only gentle on sensitive skin, but also is healing. It includes:
🌿Sweet Almond Oil- rich in Vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, potassium, zinc, and many minerals and vitamins
🌿Avocado Oil – High in oleic acid, beneficial at hydrating and softening skin, as well as treating skin conditions such as eczema, acne, and dermatitis.
🌿Cocoa Seed Butter- contains antioxidants called polyphenols that soothe and promote healing in skin conditions and diminish signs of aging.
🌿Oat Bran Extract- soothing for irritated skin
🌿Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract -used to soothe inflammatory skin conditions and is a natural antibacterial moisturizer
🌿Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract- naturally moisturizes skin without clogging pores.
🌿Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice- natural healing and calming properties that promote cell regeneration
🌿Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract- strengthens and rejuvenates the skin and has anti-aging properties.

Nubian Heritage Sensitive Skin Body Wash
This stuff surprised me in the best possible way. First of all, I was relieved when I was sent the sensitive skin wash because I truly do struggle with skin issues but I generally don’t buy unscented body wash because of past experiences. The last unscented body wash that I bought left my skin feeling stripped and dry, but this was non-irritating, had no true scent (as promised) but was extremely soothing and hydrating for my skin. It offers just a slight lather, nothing crazy; although this is a good thing since most ingredients that lather can be irritating because of the surfactants.
What I like:
What I loved the most about this is that it left behind a veil of moisture on my skin afterwards, even after drying off with a towel. With this wash, you can feel the shea butter and aloe at work. It also doubles well as a shave gel for a non-irritating and close shave, and although it doesn’t have a scent, it does eliminate body odor (don’t act like you weren’t wondering that..) LOL I absolutely feel comfortable using this on my son. Since I do appreciate a scent (from essential oils and natural aromas,) I can’t wait to check out some of their scented body washes and lotions. If they are anything like their bath bombs, I’m buying. 👌🏽💛✨
Thank you, Nubian Heritage, for making me a believer — you’ve definitely earned yourself a new returning customer 🙂
Have you tried this brand before? Let me know your experience and if you love them as much as I do!
Love and light.
