Hello beautiful people!! 🙂
I’ve had a handful of people ask me what I use to keep my skin healthy, so I figured it was time to share.
As many of you know, I suffer from perioral dermatitis and have extremely sensitive skin. Some of you may suffer from the same condition, and if so you can read about how I figured out how to finally get it under control here. Mainstream facial products either dry my skin out or cause me to break out in a rash. Other products that claim to be great for sensitive skin are too oily and make me break out in pimples.
It has been a long road finding a successful skin solution for myself that is not only non-toxic and gentle, but effective as well. But I think I finally did it!
The 6 skin products that I have found and love so far are all by the same company: 100% Pure. I’m excited to branch out with other brands but this is the first green beauty company that I’ve tried and I haven’t strayed–really, I haven’t had to. What I like about them is that all of their products are clean, organic, cruelty free, and natural. They don’t include fillers or chemicals at all and are truly 100% Pure. (Go figure.) 😛
Products I Use Daily:
Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
Intensive Nourish Moisture Balm
Vitamin C Serum
Mattifying Primer with seaweed collagen
Vitamin A & CoQ10 Wrinkle Smoothing Night Cream
I’ll go ahead and take you through the order in which I use these products:
1.) Vitamin C serum
This stuff is wonderful for my skin and I’ve noticed a significant difference since I’ve started incorporating it into my routine.
The texture is is thick and slippery and reminds me of the texture and consistency of natural aloe–straight from the plant. It smooths onto your skin very easily and dries quickly, without making your skin feel tight, but rather refreshed and awake. I put it on directly after I get out of the shower while my skin is still dewy and my pores are open in order to soak up the benefits.
Vitamin C Serum not only brightens your skin by alleviating acne, but it is also extremely beneficial for collagen synthesis (the stuff that keeps your skin looking and feeling plump and youthful.) Not to mention, it is full of antioxidants that combat free radicals (UV radiation, pollutant irritation, anything that stresses your skin and causes damage and wrinkles.) This helps to reverse and prevent signs of damage and aging, while leaving your skin feeling healthy and smooth. It is no secret that Vitamin C boosts our immune system, but it also regenerates skin health as well.
At one point, about a month ago, I wasn’t so conscious about what I was eating and my skin started flaring up. I scrubbed my face in the shower and when I got out, I put this on. It burned! BUT it was worth it because it sped up the healing so incredibly fast. By that night before bed, the rash completely flaked off. It is the fastest payoff I have found, to this day.
2. Pomegranate Moisturizer
I’ve already reviewed this product once here. But it is truly something that I use every day and is the second step to my daily face routine. It isn’t greasy at all, so would be perfect for those who struggle with finding a mild face lotion or have naturally oily skin. In fact, during the dry seasons, sometimes I need a little extra moisture than this. It is very calming and as a bonus, smells like fruit 🍒😋 (And not the artificial kind!)
3.) Intensive Nourish Moisture Balm
I absolutely adore this moisture balm. It is so rich and creamy and made from avocado, shea and almond butters to seal in moisture. The ingredients include age-defying vitamins and antioxidants which keep your skin healthy, protected, and hydrated. A little bit goes a long way with this stuff, which is why it has lasted me so long and why I don’t mind paying for it. The purity of the product is to thank for the initial hardness and you have to let it melt in your hands a little bit, a lot like coconut oil or mango butter. (Have you ever used organic cocoa butter? That stuff is hard to get out at first, too.)
I use it underneath and around my eye area. It’s great for removing stubborn eye makeup or simply soothing dry spots (especially if my perioral dermatitis is flaring up.) I have to be careful about putting too much underneath my makeup because it can cause my eye makeup to smear, but if you have time to let it soak in, or use it sparingly, it is fantastic. I use this before bed daily for an extra boost of hydration and always wake up with dewy skin.
4.) Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream (Morning)
5.) Vitamin A & CoQ10 Wrinkle Smoothing Night Cream (Night )
I’ll group these two together since they are very similar. Sometimes I use them both morning and night, and sometimes I use them at their specified times. Either way, I use them the same way– a little bit is all you need and I dot them around my eyes, the sides of my mouth and anywhere I feel fine lines are starting to form.
When I first opened them up, I was disappointed by the size but when I realized just a couple of dots is all you need, I saw that this really does last a long time. It also made me aware of how excessive I had been applying creams in the past. When it comes to our skin, more often than not, less is more.
The caffeine cream smells like chocolate! And the night cream smells like fruit, both are very refreshing and moisturizing and will last me a long time.
↠Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
Coq10 is a substance similar to a vitamin. It is found in every cell of the body. Your body makes CoQ10, and your cells use it to produce energy your body needs for cell growth and maintenance. It also functions as an antioxidant, which protects the body from damage caused by harmful molecules. It is known to boost the immune system, and studies have started identifying CoQ10 as a substance that is helpful in fighting cancer. (source)
The Caffeine Eye Cream constricts small blood vessels to reduce redness, inflammation, dark circles, and sagging skin under the eyes. It can also be of benefit to those suffering from rosacea and perioral dermatitis. The ingredients include antioxidants that both nourish and protect, aiding in skin regeneration.
6.) Mattifying Primer with Seaweed Collagen
All I can say about this stuff is WOW! I had never in my life used a primer before, so maybe this is me being biased–I truly have nothing to compare it to. Now that I’m starting to get more and more fine lines, (30 is creeping up on me…I’m okay with that) I’m learning that using a primer can be helpful. However, this one doesn’t include silicone like most mainstream primers do and the ingredients achieve so much more than simply create an even, finished look.
This formula glides on your skin like silk (I’ve heard most do.) You only need one pump and can dab it all over your face before rubbing it in. I haven’t noticed a spectacular difference in terms of it keeping my makeup in place, but I use it every day anyway since it feels so nutritive for my skin and leaves my it feeling supple. It contains green tea, aloe, and vitamin E, among a slew of other naturally nourishing ingredients. Honestly, I use this even if I’m not putting on makeup at all because of how good it makes my skin feel.
Seaweed is considered a superfood for your skin because of how many vitamins and minerals are packed into the plant, including vitamin B-1, B-2, B-3, B-6 and B-12. Seaweed’s natural, anti-inflammatory compounds can have a positive affect on acne explosions since it can draw excess fluid and waste products from the skin, while also reducing the pooling of blood beneath the skin (inflammation.) It also acts as a cleanser for dead skin cells and other impurities on the surface. Rich in iodine, seaweed can help stimulate the thyroid gland, which is responsible for producing amino acids that absorb iodine, and produces a metabolism-regulating chemical in the bloodstream. This metabolism regulator helps rejuvenate the skin.
Once I purchased these products I really started taking pride in my daily facial regimen.
I used to skip moisturizing altogether some days and getting ready felt like another chore. With these babies, I can’t wait to pamper myself for a few minutes each day. I’ve noticed an incredible change in my skin since doing this and I can feel confident about what I’m putting on my body without worrying about toxins and harmful chemicals.
Here is a picture of me after my shower with only these products applied, no makeup– just quenched and healthy skin (with the help of a summer glow, so I’m kind of cheating) Anyway, a year ago I never would have felt confident enough to post a picture like this. It’s amazing what good skincare can do for you as well as for your confidence <3 #loveyourskin #pamperyourself
