Hey beauties!
I had heard great things about Au Naturale’s Su/Stain Matte Lip Stains forever and remember looking up a million and one swatches to see which color would best suit me. I finally decided on the color Mousse, along with their eyeliner in Coco and have been really happy with them. 😍 I was also sent a sample of their concealer in the color Tulum.
The lip stain does look different on me than it did on the lovely ladies I saw it on, only because we have different skin tones– but this is why I think it might be helpful for other ladies with a similar skin tone as me to see it on. So if you have light olive skin tone with yellow undertones and searching for the perfect dark lip, check it out😘
Su/Stain Matte Lip Stain in Mousse:
Color:
This stain is a deep brown with warm undertones. A very pigmented color that is intense at first but settles in nicely.
Wearing Mousse without a lip liner
Formula:
Thick, creamy, and smooth. It will cling to dry patches on your lips though, so buff those babies with a lip scrub beforehand. 😅 Unlike most mainstream matte lipstains, this doesn’t dry insanely fast. It is smooth and creamy, which is why it is so nourishing–but won’t pass the kiss test instantaneously. However, when I use a lip liner to line and fill my lips first (I use Innocence by Zuzu Luxe,) the color holds much longer, and even after eating and drinking I can see the stain take effect. This is when it would pass the kiss test 😉 By this time it looks completely matte and takes on a different tone, but I love it that way as well. I definitely had less lasting power when I didn’t use a liner, and gained about 3 extra hours just by including that beforehand.
Scent:
It smells like fruit! And tastes subtly sweet as well. It’s very subtle. Non-irritating whatsoever for me.
Ingredients:
*Ricinus Communis (Castor Seed Oil), *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil),*Hydrogenated Palm Oil, *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Seed Butter), *Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter Fruit), *Organic Flavoring, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Micas, Manganese Violet, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) derived from Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Seed). *denotes organic ingredients
Would I buy again?
Absolutely. Next on my wishlist? Marsala and Hero☺️ I think those two might be closer to the color I was aiming for originally, but I’m glad that I have Mousse as well. Marsala seems a little more toned down and might be better once winter ends, but I do rock a nude lip year round so I’ll get a lot of use out of this and don’t regret having it at all. It’s become a staple in my routine each week now and I’m looking forward to exploring more colors.
Swipe-On Essential Eye Pencil in Coco
Color:
Online it’s described as a classic warm brown, but that’s a little misleading, as I’d consider it a deep, bold brown, almost like dark chocolate. The color is highly pigmented and shows very well on my lid. It’s perfect for my skin tone and eye color and I’d definitely get it again.
Formula:
This pencil applies smoothly and doesn’t tug on my lid. I use shorter strokes to apply to minimize tugging anyway, but it is creamy enough that I don’t have to push too hard to create an impressive color pay off. It isn’t irritating to my sensitive skin, either which is always my number 1 concern. The pencil itself is large and will last a long time and it applies very well.
Lasting Power:
I had an issue with it smudging and bleeding when I was using my usual concealer by 100% pure— which is a naturally oilier formula, so I can see why that happened. But when I used au naturale’s concealer and then followed up with powder eye shadow, I experienced zero smudging and it lasted all day. I don’t apply it to my bottom lid at all though and only use my mascara to smudge my bottom lid slightly to create a bold effect.
Completely Covered Creme Concealer in Tulum (Sample)
Yasss queen. 🙌🏽 I never thought I would stray from my favorite concealer, and although I’ll always keep that one as well, I’m really glad I was sent a sample of this because I truly love it for different reasons.🤗 Since it is highly pigmented, only a little is needed and this tiny sample will last me a long time. 🙌🏽
UPDATE: It has been freezing lately— like 12* and up, and my skin has been drying out like crazy. I appreciate the extra moisture in my other concealer and this one is looking chalky now that my skin is drying out. 😩 If you have oilier skin naturally, this would probably be a great option for you, but for now I have to put this one away.
Color:
I have light olive skin tone with yellow undertones and Tulum is the perfect shade for me. It brightens my eyes enough, but very natural looking as well. I usually go even a shade lighter to give a more rested look, and next time I would do that, but this color would probably be really great on my summer skin.
This is what it looks like online:
Formula:
It’s not as oil based as my usual concealer, but this actually works well for me (when my skin is hydrated) since 30 is creeping up and more fine lines are forming–I have to watch my creamy makeup products, as to not crease (now I know why people use setting powder, it’s not just to add longevity, people 😂 and if you’re looking for an effective natural powder for an affordable price, I’d recommend starting here.) Anyway, the ingredients are just as gorgeous as my go-to, but this has a less dewy finish, and goes on matte. It also works well as an eyeshadow primer, especially when using powdered shadows.
