It’s been a while since I’ve given a review…If you’ve been reading my posts, you know that life has felt a little hectic for me lately. Taking a break from the emotional aspect of my life and focusing on some things that make me feel beautiful is a nice change of scenery…The perks of being a woman, right? 🙂
Today I’m going to review one of my favorite products from 100% Pure– their Lip Caramel in Butterchew.
This formula took a little getting used to for me, but once I did I found that it worked really well. I have only ever worn glosses and lipsticks, so having something that felt oily instead of slick was different. Not bad, just different 🙂
A little bit goes a long way and the way it looks after it sets into your lips is really pretty. I do find that I need to apply often if I want to retain that shiny look but I’m not sure if lip caramels are meant to stay shiny for hours.
Since it is more on the oily side and a lighter color, I would recommend buffing lips beforehand. It definitely showed the parts of my lips that I’ve been neglecting. LOL… But that’s not the lippie’s fault and I think that’s a pretty standard rule of thumb when it comes to lighter shades on the lips.
When I was first interested in this color and looked up swatches, this color looked more brown-nude with light tan undertones. I thought it would lighten up my lips in a different way, like a frosty nude. That is how the swatch was on one person, but on me it was pinker, like apricot…or salmon.
I think this is because although the color is highly pigmented, the formula soaks in like an oil and your natural lip color shines through. It’s like your natural lips, just with a translucent filter. 🙂
For me, this made the color more pink. For others, it may look different. Just as well, as it starts to soak in and blend in with your natural lip color, it will take on a different shade. This is actually when the color becomes my favorite.
This is also why when I first tried it, I wasn’t so sure about it. I also was much paler when I got it. I found that I really loved it once I got a nice summer glow, or paired with the Pretty Naked Blush. I haven’t seen many examples on women with olive skin tones– I have a lot of yellow and even sometimes green undertones. I feel most confident in colors that have brown undertones to even out that color.
This definitely helped me break out of my comfort zone and enjoy a lighter shade! This is the only color I have so far, but think I may add more to my stash in the future!
Have you tried any of their lip caramels yet? Let me know what you like about them or which color you’d suggest next! 🙂 Xoxo
