Hey guys!! I’ve been quiet on here, I know! We’ve been getting through back-to-back cold season, holidays, and very recently getting our home ready for baby #2!! So much laundry, meal prepping, appointments, cooking + freezing food, cleaning…Phew, I feel like I haven’t been able to take a full breath since our move to Maryland in September, and it doesn’t look like life is slowing down anytime soon 🙂 All for good reasons, though! I hope all of you are doing so incredibly well and if life is snowballin’ for you, too, just know that I am rooting for you!
Anyway, I realized I had a bunch of pictures of makeup selections I’ve taken but never posted and have been meaning to, for like ever. So without boring you with too many more personal details, I’m going to go ahead and post them as much as I can before this little guy makes an appearance. LOL (he’s due January 30) So get ready to get bombarded.
I ordered this lip liner a while back and only used it a couple of times over the summer, but have been loving it this winter.
On 100% Pure’s Swatch page, the color looked to me as though it would be more of a berry brown with purple undertones. Or, perhaps this is what I was hoping (Jane Iredale’s Spice, to this day, is my favorite lip liner of all time 🙂 )
On me, it is a true chocolatey brown with slight red undertones. It is darker than I expected, but a beautiful color I do appreciate and wear often in the winter. I think you could get away with it in the summer as well with the right outfit, but I just didn’t grab for it much.
I’m going to be honest, I didn’t love this one at first. My lips were buffed, but the liner dragged initially and wasn’t “creamy” at all. It applied blotchy and strange, seen below:
I was even going to send it back, but since I am a repeat customer, 100% Pure said that I could just keep it and gave me a refund anyway (guys, this is why I never am afraid to try new products from them, their customer service is incredible and makes it sooo easy to return or refund if you’re not 100% happy, and many times just ask you to give it to someone else if it’s just the shade that was a little off.)
What Made It Work!:
Since I was stuck with it, I kept giving it a try. I’m not sure if during transit it dried out or what, but I used some SheaMoisture chapstick and then applied the lip liner over top.
Game. Changer. It glided on smoothly and didn’t flake like before and continued to work well after that. If you’ve tried these and didn’t love it because of the formula, give it ago with a thick, glossy chapstick or lipgloss to get it lubricated and it should be good to go.
I’m glad I gave this a second shot because I was a little harsh with my initial impression and was ready to get rid of it LOL I’ve been wearing it often and am interested in trying the color Cognac next for a softer look.
